Chinese culture in Taipei
"Where is the most secure place to hide when Chinese start bombing Taiwan?"
Hmmmmmmm...
M.C. [not me!] posted the question during coffee break and provided the answer - probably the right one: National Palace Museum. Why? As it is a long-lasting dispute over the waste collection there, which Kuomintang transported when leaving China. Beijing rather would not risk any damage for it.
What a show would be then to put it again in Beijing's museum of the same name: 'our' collection at home, finally! Well, few millions of corpses, but what is it for 1.3 bln nation, ONE nation...would (will?) be the answer... rest of the world would rather not complain much. Already seen, in Balcans and in Africa, who cares, until they do the job for the Companies...
At the moment Palace in Taipei is under (loong) reconstruction, thorough also, it seems...let's hope it will not need any renovation soon...mhm, until the Beijing Games pass, at least, yes? (probably correct hint, also provided by M.C., he is probably Maoist agent here :-))
The green in front of the Palace is really GREEN, here it lost some 'juice' even, in the pic:
Some rather odd objects also grew in the nearest surrounding...hills are around and some Bayern (Bavarian) bank director wanted to feel at home or what?
And I am curious what/who is located in this eagle's nest above the city (a bit left above the top of the building):
Inside the Palace no pics area so I could not do any, but the collection is really stunning, i will post here their official webpage: http://www.npm.gov.tw/index.htm , quite informative. E.g. this collection of maps was very inspirative (you all know how I love old maps!): http://www.npm.gov.tw/exh94/maps/ and bronzes http://www.npm.gov.tw/index.htm and ceramics and jadeites and...
One important thing: the exposition is not too tiresome, the choice is good and you do not feel as walking the Great Wall after seeing it. Pure pleasure.
